Purpose

Welcome to Ever Onward, where you will find accessible classes that harness the full spectrum of yogic tools (including the deeper teachings) to help you create transformation, connect with purpose, reduce suffering, and foster compassion.

Our community prioritizes kindness toward the body, mind, and other people.

We’re so glad you’re here.

Values

Accessibility and Inclusivity

  • Inclusive Practices: We are committed to making yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of physical capacity. We believe advanced practice does not equate to advanced physical ability. Our offerings include a range of classes that allow participation from a mat or chair.

  • Psychological Sensitivity: Our online yoga studio format is designed to be trauma-sensitive and accessible, enabling students to practice in a way that feels safe and supportive.

  • Community Connection: We prioritize creating a sense of community. We offer regular free community gatherings and optional tea times after practice to foster connection and belonging.

Compassion and Self-Awareness

  • Cultivating Compassion: Through our practice, we aspire to nurture greater compassion for ourselves and others.

  • Respect for Autonomy: We honor each individual’s ability to decide which practices work for them, encouraging students to engage with teachings that align with their unique needs and conditions. Our role is that of facilitators, not gurus.

Integrity in Teaching

  • Rooted in Tradition: We honor the roots of yoga and the other contemplative traditions we incorporate. As teachers, we are committed to being lifelong students, practicing consistently before sharing teachings.

  • Respect for Scope of Practice: While yoga addresses a wide range of human experiences, we work within our scope, acknowledging that yoga does not cure or treat specific conditions. We collaborate with other professionals and value evidence-based tools and advice alongside contemplative traditions.

  • Commitment to Honesty: When something is outside the scope of yoga facilitation, we acknowledge it and refer students to competent professionals.

Awareness over Aesthetics

  • Function Over Form: How the practices feel you to you and serve your intentions is more important than performance of a particular form. We are not a fitness studio. Instead of striving for complex postures or some externally validated physical ideal, we encourage students to view physical practices as a doorway to awareness of and kindness toward the body.

  • Inner Awareness Over Outer Performance: We reject the notion that advanced yoga equates to physically intense postures. We’ve observed that overemphasis on performative asana can reinforce egoic striving and increase suffering. Instead, we emphasize awareness and kindness to the body. We focus on yoga’s ability to create integration rather than its potential to look beautiful.

Collaboration and Integration

  • Integrative Support: We view yoga as one part of an integrative approach to well-being, working alongside evidence-based Western medicine to support students in finding comfort and peace.

  • Research-Based Practices: We value science and the collaboration of contemplative traditions with research-based methodologies to provide well-rounded, informed practices.
